History

The Clay County Bar Association is an active voluntary Bar Association

We host monthly networking luncheons and other events during the year, with the highlight being our Law Day Luncheon held in May of each year. We are active in the community and have a history of awarding scholarships to local high school students each year. Our motto is promoting collegiality, furthering competency, and inspiring professional pride.

The Clay County Bar Association, Inc. was formally organized in 1973. Many of you have seen the first known photograph of the Bar Association, taken in front of the historic Clay County Courthouse on Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The photo now hangs in the Clay County Judges' Chambers.

The founding members in the picture are as follows:

Dedication of the new Clay County Courthouse

The new Clay County Courthouse was completed and dedicated on January 11th, 2008.  The members of the Clay County Bar Association are shown in the picture below.

To ensure continuous existence and prompt filing of our annual corporate report with the Division of Corporations, David A. King has served as our Registered Agent since 1986. Our Officers are made up of a rotating group of volunteers from the Bar.
